I went to go see Roger Waters (one of the voices of Pink Floyd) play the entire The Wall double album in a rock opera performance last night. It was pretty spectacular. The stage began flanked in blocks of projection screens…slowly, block by block, the wall was filled in until after intermission, the first song off the second part of the double album was played entirely behind the projection screen built to look like the wall from the album cover. It was topped off by huge marionettes, and a floating war-pig…he used a lot of imagery from banksy and perpetuated his theme of governmental distrust by incorporating videos of recent wrongful government assassinations. At 67 the guy is still a good looking cat with a hell of a voice. The performance was polished and passionate and stirring without being too banal and safe.
